What to read when you’re expecting

One of the first things we did after finding out about my pregnancy was to go to Booksale. We ended up buying What To Expect When You’re Expecting and The Expectant Father.

My favorite and most read pregnancy book so far is the one at the waiting room of my ob gyne’s office. It’s by Lesley Regan and published by Dorling Kindersley. She actually has two books but they’re relatively the same – Your Pregnancy Week by Week and I’m Pregnant They are very much like encyclopedias with all the information you’ll need broken down into weekly developments. Every time we pay a visit to our ob-gyne, we browse the pages and easily digest new information. I actually wanted to take the book home. We found a copy in one of the second hand bookstores but decided against buying it since we can easily access it at the doctor’s office – for free!

Currently, I’m reading Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: How to Calm, Connect, and Communicate with Your Baby by Tracy Hoggs. It’s an interesting read and it shows me a picture of what the reality might look like in the near future with a baby in tow. She makes it sound so easy with her E.A.S.Y. steps but I’m getting the picture now of how confusing and how challenging it must be for new parents to help their little one adjust sooner to the outside world. I’m actually excited and curious to put her lessons to the test.

Here are the books currently on my shelf (or “Books I should be reading instead of keeping a blog”):

  1. What To Expect When You’re Expecting
  2. The Expectant Father
  3. Secrets of the Baby Whisperer
  4. Bringing Up Bébé

A friend recommended Eat, Sleep, Poop but I haven’t gotten my hands on a copy of the book and the journal. I  guess I better finish the books on my to-be-read pile first.
